How to Build a Wall Gun Rack

article I am an avid hunter.

While I am in the process of acquiring a gun rack, I am looking for a way to keep my weapons secure.

I have built a few of my own and have been quite impressed with the quality and ease of use.

But, there is a downside.

I need a way of securing them.

So, I have come up with a way.

It has been a while since I have seen a gun, but I have been researching and learning.

I came across a post on the internet by a guy named Joe that showed a simple way to secure your guns.

This was a fun project and I am very pleased with the results.

Joe was a retired military veteran and is now retired.

He shared the following video with us and I thought I would share it with you.

The video is an 8 minute long video, so please watch it slowly.

Joe explains the process in detail.

Here are some of the things you need to do. 1.

Make a simple cardboard box.

I used the wood from a shed in my yard and cut the sides out.

I took the edges off the edges and drilled holes for the screws.

The holes will allow for screws to pass through.

2.

Cut a sheet of wood.

The sides of the box should be about a foot apart.

I had to drill the holes in the sides for the screw holes.

3.

Cut an angle grinder.

I got mine for about $20 and it did not cost much.

4.

Drill holes for screws.

I drilled a hole in the side of the gun rack with a 4 inch drill bit and put a small bit of wood in between the hole and the bottom of the rack.

I was not worried about it falling off the rack, it was just a temporary solution.

5.

Drill a hole for the metal latch.

I drilled the holes and drilled out a small slot in the middle of the latch.

6.

Cut screws.

This was the hardest part.

I measured the width of the metal slot in my drill bit to be 6 inches.

I then measured the thickness of the wood in my wood cutter and cut a small hole in it. 7.

Cut the latch out of wood and cut holes in it to accept the screws I cut.

8.

Drill four holes in a box.

The metal latch will come in two pieces.

You can drill two holes in each piece.

The first piece will be the trigger, the other piece will hold the gun in place.

9.

Drill two holes for a piece of metal.

The wood in the bottom part of the hinge is very small.

You need to drill a small notch in the metal to fit the hole.

10.

Make two pieces of wood that are about 6 inches apart.

You can use a 1/2 inch plywood to make this.

11.

Drill small holes in one piece of wood for the lock.

12.

Drill and cut small holes for another piece of the lock that will hold it in place (the latch).

13.

Cut two holes to hold the two pieces in place at the same time.

14.

Drill the holes for locking the latch together.

15.

Drill an angle grate and use a drill bit that is about 4 inches long to drill through the top of the grate and make a groove in the end of the piece of plywood.

16.

Drill 2 holes in wood that you can use to attach the two locks together.

17.

Make a second piece of locking wood.

18.

Drill smaller holes to attach it to the gun and hold it together.

19.

Cut 3 holes to accept screws that you drilled to hold it closed.

20.

Drill three holes for one piece and attach it securely to the bottom piece.

21.

Drill one hole in each hole for a metal latch that you will attach to the metal part of your gun.

22.

Cut and drill a hole through the wood that is next to the locking piece to hold in place the metal lock.23.

Drill hole for an angle grill to hold your gun in the wood.24.

Drill 1 hole in wood for a hinge piece to attach to. 25.

Drill 3 holes in wooden that will accept the lock you drilled and hold the metal gun in. 26.

Cut holes for each piece of gun that you want to attach your gun to.

 27.

Attach the two guns to the wood frame and lock it up. 28.

Check out Joe’s video for a breakdown of all of this.

Joe was very open about his hobby and was willing to share his process with us.

He has made many other gun racks for hunters.
